Brangayne and Ynys Witrin are two Orange vineyards set at different elevations across the region, each shaped by its own balance of warmth and cool. Together, they produce fruit defined by structural balance and depth of flavour.

Single Vineyard Wines
Our two Orange vineyards each tell a slightly different story of soil, sunlight, and elevation.
At Ynys Witrin, the vines sit between 860 and 880 metres, where the slightly warmer climate helps later-ripening varieties reach full flavour and balance before the cool season sets in.
Higher on the slopes, the Brangayne vineyard in Orange rises to nearly 1000 metres. Here, the air is cooler and the light softer, perfect for varieties that thrive in gentle conditions.
Together, these sites create harmony: fruit with natural acidity, depth, and purity of flavour. Reds emerge with rich colour and intensity, while the whites remain bright, elegant, and finely structured.
Brangayne
The Brangayne vineyard is situated 9 kilometres south-west of Orange, on Pinnacle Road, on the Eastern slopes of Mount Canobolas.

Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier
Altitude & Aspect
The elevation of the Brangayne vineyard ranges from 960 to 1,000 metres above sea level with the Sauvignon Blanc grown on the highest land. The aspect is northerly with the slopes providing good air drainage and frost protection.
Soil
Soils are deep and young - principally tertiary volcanic. The topsoil is a red/brown loam with good drainage and depth, over red clay. The underlying rock is basalt.
Climate
Brangayne is protected from wind by 100 year old radiata pine trees and temperatures are noticeably cooler than those at Ynys Witrin. A typical summer's day at Brangayne would be 25°C or less while winter maximum temperatures are typically less than 10°C with snow being not unusual. The average rainfall annually is approximately 925mm.
At Brangayne we have a weather station which is part of the NSW DPI Weather Station Network.
Ynys Witrin
The Ynys Witrin vineyard is situated 6 kilometres west-northwest of Orange NSW, on Old Forbes Road.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Riesling
Altitude & Aspect
The elevation of Ynys Witrin ranges from 860 to 880 metres above sea level with the Pinot Noir and Shiraz grown on the highest land. The aspect is east to south-east.
Climate
Due to its lower elevation and closer proximity to the western edge of the tablelands, Ynys Witrin is much more open than Brangayne and warmer, with temperatures in summer averaging 27°C (vs Brangayne 25°C).
The average annual rainfall is approximately 850mm.
Soil
The soil of Ynys Witrin is principally a red-brown loam, with good drainage and topsoil depth, although less deep than those at Brangayne. The underlying rock is basalt.

Across both sites, we farm with care, respecting the rhythms of the land and the individuality of each block.
A Legacy Rooted in the Land
Brangayne’s connection to the soil runs deep. From its beginnings as an orchard in the 1930s to its transformation into a vineyard in 1994, the land has always been central to who we are. The shift to viticulture was a natural evolution — the same soil, the same family, guided by a new passion.
From Orchard to Altitude
Orange offers conditions found in a few Australian regions. Elevation, volcanic soils, and a cool climate combine to create an environment well suited to fine winegrowing.
Brangayne and Ynys Witrin sit among the best vineyards Orange has to offer, with sites reaching up to 1000 metres above sea level. Each vintage reflects this balance of altitude and intention, shaping fruit with natural poise and longevity.

Our vineyard practices are guided by respect for the environment and an understanding of what each season brings. From pruning to picking, every decision is made to produce expressive, site-driven wines.
Intervention is kept to a minimum, allowing fruit quality to lead the outcome. This measured approach supports the expression of site across both Orange vineyards, producing wines that reflect its origin.
