Orange Winery: Makers of Distinctive Cool-Climate Wines

Our name, drawn from the tale of Brangayne in Wagner’s opera “Tristan und Isolde”, is a nod to loyalty and enduring passion. Those values guide how our wines are grown in Orange vineyards, produced in partnership with our trusted wine maker, and shared through our cellar door.

A Family Tradition Rooted in Orange

Brangayne of Orange began as the Hoskins’ family orchard in the 1930s before Donal and Pamela Hoskins established vineyards on the property in 1994. Three generations later, the family remains closely involved in caring for the land and guiding its direction.

Set high above sea level, our vineyards sit within the Orange wine region, where cool-climate conditions influence flavour and structure. Wine production takes place with our trusted winemakers, Simon and Will Gilber, but the fruit and identity remain anchored here, offering a different perspective from many wineries in Orange.

About Orange’s Distinct Cool-Climate Character

Brangayne of Orange is known for its altitude (up to 970 metres above sea level) and Brangayne’s vines thrive in this fresh, elevated environment.

The region’s natural balance of sunny days and crisp nights produces wines with depth, elegance, and restraint. It’s this combination that gives our Riesling its refined citrus, our Pinot Grigio its delicate texture, and our red wines their layered finish.

These conditions help explain why Orange winery visitation continues to grow, as the region gains recognition for refined cool-climate wines.
